La Balance

This has nothing to do with the Libra zodiac sign. To me, this is a sort of life’s objective metaphor. It’s always about getting the right balance: our weight, consumption of alcohol, less cigarettes, the turnover, the salary and so on.
For managers, it’s all about getting a proper work/life balance. Indeed, they are real hard workers. At least it’s what they say. And then, it’s about balancing their turnovers in terms of account, consultants and clients. If there are as many consultants as clients, then, it looks good. You will see them parading with all their white teeth out and their phoney smiles. Of course, they are too busy to talk to you. Less clients with lots of consultants paid on doing nothing say it all about the manager’s competence. Business development managers wouldn’t share my point of view, to them, a consultant on no mission is an unprofessional and bad consultant.

For consultants, it’s also about getting a proper work/life balance. But unlike the managers, they should work more. They should also balance their ambitions, which are always getting a big salary, even juniors complained about salaries after few months. It’s very annoying for the managers. The consultants also seek a balance between their missions and their career development. In time of economical crisis, literally speaking, a manager would send the consultants to provide any type of services to any clients.

Generally speaking, life is permanently unbalanced. Every time we get up in the morning, every time we are out there at work or in a pub, everything we always do serves only one purpose: trying out to balance our lives. It’s debatable, and I’m willing to explain it more to managers. Of course, in some cases, some people have given up on that ambition. Some people are defeated by life.
